French restaurants in Amsterdam

Attention French food lovers: do you know where to get the freshest oysters and eat authentic French food such as galettes and choucroute

Here you'll find a menu du jour with my favorite French dishes and where to eat them in Amsterdam:

"Plateau fruits de mer"
Brasserie FLO

Blown over from Paris, this traditional French restaurant or brasserie is one of the best places in town to eat classic French recipes. Here you'll find the coolest plateau fruits de mer; oysters, lobster, shrimps, everything is fresh and prepared on order (and not defrosted like in some restaurants).
FLO is also a good place to eat steak tartare, crêpe Suzette and choucroute (sauerkraut with potatoes and sausage from the Elzas) and they have a great selection of wine. If you want to enjoy FLO at home, their excellent cookbook is on sale at the restaurant!

A la Carte: around € 45,- p.p.

Lunch: Monday to Friday, from 12.00-15.00 hrs
Dinner: every day from 17.30-23.00 hrs
Souper: Sun-Wed from 23.00-23.30 hrs & Fr-Sa from 23.00-24.00 hrs

"Steak tartare"
Restaurant The French Café

Since its opening in 2006, The French Café has been a popular spot for French food lovers. I regularly visit The French Café for its steak tartare with french fries and salad, which is prepared to your tast by one of the waiters. If you are not a raw meat lover, they have plenty of mouth-watering alternatives. Or if you like to be surprised, choose either the Menu du Chef or Menu Découverte (only per table).
The French Café is a great place for your anniversary celebration or just for an evening out in the town!

Menu du Chef: from € 36,- p.p.
Menu Découverte: € 63,- p.p.
A la Carte: around € 40,- p.p.

Dinner: Tuesday to Saterday from 18.00-22.00 hrs.

"Selection of cheeses"
Restaurant A la Ferme

Nearing the end of an evening full of wining and dining, cheese is essential in my menu. Luckily, French restaurant A la Ferme in the Pijp agrees with me. The only downside is that you cannot choose your own plate of cheeses. But knowing their good taste, I am not afraid letting them choose for me...
A la Ferme is a great place for a romantic dinner for two. But they also seat groups of around 16 persons in the back of the place.

Daily menu starting from € 32,50
A la carte - 3 course menu: around € 40,- p.p.

Dinner: Tuesday to Saturday from 18.00-22.00 hrs

"Crêpe Miel"
Côte Ouest

This friendly restaurant in a relatively quiet street behind Dam Square is specialized in food from Brittany, one of the western regions of France. Their specialities are galettes (salty pancakes), which are prepared with French buckwheat and served in three kinds of ways: with goat cheese and spinach, bacon tomatoes and egg or smoked red salmon, crème fraîche and lemon.
If you are fond of mussels, this also a great place for you. You can choose between three preparations of boiled mussels. And they all come with french fries and salade.
My favorite dish at Côte Ouest, however, are the sweet pancakes: the crêpes. Especially the ones with honey (miel). But you can also get your crêpe decorated with sugar, lemon, crème caramel and of course, chocolate.

A la carte - 3 course menu: around € 40,- p.p.
Lunch: Tuesday to Sunday, from 12.00-16.00 hrs
Dinner: Tuesday to Sunday, from 17.30-22.00 hrs
