This is one of my favorite desserts: warm figs with soft brown sugar and almonds. And it's so simple, even I can make it!
The original recipe from the River Café Kookboek Easy 2 uses ricotta, but I love it like this:
For 4 persons, all you'll need is:
- 12 figs
- 100 grams white almonds (crushed in small parts)
- butter
- lemon
- 2 spoons of soft brown sugar
The preparation:
- pre-heat the oven to 150˚C
- butter a baking dish
- incise the figs by cutting a cross on the upper side of the figs; push the lower side of the figs upwards, so that the figs open up
- put the figs in the buttered baking dish, pour the lemon juice over them and sprinkle the almonds and soft brown sugar on top
- put the baking dish in the oven for 10 minutes
- after 10 minutes pour the juice over the figs and put the dish back into the oven for 5 more minutes
- serve up the figs and eat them while still warm
